Counter Salesperson

JOB SUMMARY
To promote and develop sales opportunities with clients in accordance with company policies and procedures while exercising some project coordination duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to...
Sales
- Promote sales to existing clients while identifying potential new clients
- Prepare quotes and follow-up in a timely manner to track results
- Assess client's needs and resource and recommend the appropriate products and services
- Estimate costs of installing products or service
- Consult with clients after sale to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support
- Proficient in all pertinent areas of the Navision order entry system
- Establish work schedules and coordinate activities with other departments
- May perform other duties pertaining to sales projects
Project Coordination
- Manage on-time project delivery in accordance with the project schedule and contractor requirements, being mindful of lead times for ordering and fabricating
- Schedule and outsource shipment and installation or projects as required
- Proficient in knowledge and use of software in order to create sales orders and purchase orders
- Process change orders, troubleshooting product issues, trace shipments, and deal with other project matters
- Proficient in knowledge and use of software in order to create shop drawings, including but not limited to AVAware and AutoCAD
- Possesses an extensive knowledge of products, including but not limited to hollow metal, hardware, and wood doors in order to estimate, detail, purchase or troubleshoot for projects
- May include site visits

- Hardware product knowledge and experience required
- Cost and budget management
- Strong negotiating skills
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong customer service skills
- Goal and result oriented
- Excellent organizational skills
- Sound understanding of hardware, door and building construction industry
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Mainly in an office environment
- Sitting for long periods while working with standard office equipment
- Spend extended hours in front of a computer screen
- Lifting of office supplies and material of up to 80 lbs.
- Moderate lighting and variable temperatures
- Required to enter areas of moderate to extreme noise i.e. weld shop, warehouse, shipping/receiving
- Standing/sitting/bending at varied times throughout the day
- Required to go to external job sites
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Sales experience an asset
- Project Coordination/Project Management experience an asset
- Knowledge of construction industry an asset
- Extensive company training provided
- DHI Certification (will train)
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Navision Sales Order Entry System, AutoCAD
