Frank J. Verge Excellence in Education Award

Frank J. Verge, DAHC/CDC

Frank Verge was and continues to be a legend in the Canadian and U.S. door and hardware industry.  In 2010, he was the recipient of the DHI Founders Award – the highest and most prestigious DHI award that recognizes significant and outstanding technical expertise and service over an extended period of time.

Frank joined the industry in 1954 when he began as a clerk for William Stairs.  He held various positions in the Atlantic Chapter including Chapter President.  In 1980, he became the first Canadian to serve as DHI International President.

Frank was considered one of the most knowledgeable codes professionals in our industry.  He was looked to as an authority by the built community.  Even after more than 60 years of service, he continued to write specifications for the architectural community, instruct at the DHI Canada Schools and support our industry.

Frank passed away in July 2012 but his contributions to our industry live on in the memories of everyone he taught, mentored and met over his prestigious career.  DHI Canada is proud to name this award in his honour.
