Responsibilities:

Collaborates with Architects, Developers, General Contractors and Electrical Consultants by providing consulting services for door hardware & access control to produce quality door hardware schedules and specifications.

What led you to the door and hardware industry?

Previous position in the RFID technology market introduced me to the world of door hardware and access control. 

How many years have you been in the industry?

Door hardware specifically, almost 5 years. Access Control technology for 7 years.

What was your first job?

Selling two way radio equipment on a 100% commission plan. 

What is your proudest professional moment?

Restarting my career after being a stay home mom of four for 10 years. Rebuilt my dormant career as a single mom by continually educating myself in new technologies and products in order to create a better life for me and my family. 

What has been your biggest challenge?

Working in a male dominant industry and being taken seriously. 

Who do you consider a mentor or hero?

My former manager in the RFID industry was the best leader I have worked for. He was not just a manager but also a leader. He took the time to teach me what he knew about the technology and ensured i understood it very well in order to ready me for  success. 

What is the best advice you ever received?

From my Dr. "Muddy waters left untouched will soon clear" 

What is the best advice you never received?

Know your worth in the industry. Be proud of your achievements and it is ok to say no. 

What changes have you seen in the industry over recent years?

The increased involvement of access control into the door hardware industry has increased the demand for strong collaboration with all parties involved in opening hardware. Electrical consultants, System Integrators, IT professionals, Architects, Developers General Contractors and door hardware installers.

What changes do you see facing our industry in the future?

I see AI playing a big role in providing door hardware specifications in the near future. 

Fun fact you wish to share

I used to be a  cheerleader for a professional football team in Canada.
