University of Guelph Makes Electronic Access Doors Easier to Use

Oct 15, 2024 | New Products

A team at the University of Guelph has developed a system that can integrate into any electronic door access system to make them easier to use.

The system can be retrofitted into an existing door's access controls and works in conjunction with an app called OpenWay. OpenWay communicates with the door through bluetooth and allows a user to customize the amount of time the door remains open. The app memorizes doors with which it can be used, so users don't need to repetitively enter information. It also bypasses the door-opening button.

It has been installed on one door at the university's School of Engineering and is being more widely tested by the City of Collingwood. More details are available here.
