Construction Companies See Promise in AI Agents

Construction companies are increasingly adopting AI and AI agents to ease project management and address looming labor shortages. Software providers such as Procore, Autodesk, and Trimble offer tools that analyze jobsite data, flag safety issues, automate reporting, and extract insights from complex documents. With the industry short roughly 349,000 workers and more than 40% of the workforce projected to retire within the next five years, AI is also seen as a way to capture and transfer institutional knowledge from experienced leaders. Many large firms already use AI for tasks like voice-dictated logs, progress tracking and worker matching. While adoption is growing, especially among bigger companies, trust and data readiness remain key hurdles.
