ConstructConnect reports that August non-residential construction activity was $4.0 billion, bringing year-to-date investment to $67.0 billion, about 28% below the same time last year. If megaprojects are removed from the total, it comes in at an 8% decline. There is positive news, though - if all the projects discussed at the recent Canadian Investment Summit materialize, they represent a total boost of $300 billion, and the accelerated approvals process proposed in the House of Commons will reduce the time to first shovels in the ground.
